An Encouraging Word from your Preacher Man (Patrick Cannon)

Hello church family!

Who would have ever thought we would be communicating so much through the digital world?!  I pray this finds all of you well and surviving the best way you can.  I know you are probably going stir crazy, especially our young families with children. Extra prayers sent your way.  In a time like this, we realize that even though we may be running out of things that we are used to having, we have in front of us what’s most important:  God and Family!!

In the words of A.W Tozer, “While it looks like things are out of control behind the scenes there is a God who has not surrendered authority.”  In this time of uncertainty, may we hold on to the truth that we may not know what tomorrow holds, but we know who holds tomorrow.

1. Be thankful we have elders who love us. Their decision to suspend our gatherings was not an easy one to make. As our shepherds, they are charged with protecting the flock. Sometimes that means protecting us from ourselves! As we have been saying, it is better, to err on the side of caution. Your leadership team at Walnut is doing their best to keep you informed and encouraged as we go through this storm together.
2. Be thankful for our Life Groups—one of our members texted me this morning the idea of everyone stopping to pray each morning for those in their group.  I love the idea!
3. Reach out in new ways. Encourage those who need to stay in with a phone call, text, or email.
4. Stay committed to your daily devotionals. There are good resources accessible online. We are planning to streamline a message this Sunday and we will let you know later in the week more details.  PRAY DAILY!!

Devo thought for the day:  I read Jesus Calling devo book everyday and today’s thought is so spot on…
“Trust me one day at a time.  This keeps you close to me, responsive to my will.  Trust is not a natural response, especially for those who have been deeply wounded.  My Spirit within you is your resident tutor, helping you in this supernatural endeavor.  Exert your will to trust me in all circumstances.  Don’t let your need to understand distract you from My presence.  I will equip you to get through this day victoriously as you live in deep dependence on Me.  Tomorrow is busy worrying about itself; don’t get tangled up in its worry-webs.  Trust me one day at a time.”
Spend time today reading Matthew 6:25-34.
