John has served as preaching minister for Walnut since January 1, 1999. He and Linda have three grown children and eight grandkids.  John’s training for ministry includes degrees in Bible from Christian College of the Southwest, Harding University and Abilene Christian University.  His Doctor of Ministry from ACU is in preaching and church leadership.  John believes biblical preaching must address three questions:

 

(1)   What does the Bible say?

(2)   What does the Bible mean?

(3)   How does the Bible apply to my life”.

 

John’s philosophy of preaching is:  “Preach to the church so the church can preach to the world."

Tommy Gaither serves Walnut as their Outreach minister. He has worked with congregations in Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas as pulpit minister, youth minister, education minister and prison minister. He has made mission trips to Guyana, Honduras, The Bahamas, Belarus, Lithuania, Nicaragua and a medical mission trip to Guatemala this year. Tommy also volunteers with the Texarkana, Texas Police department as their Police Chaplan. He and his wife Juanda started their work at Walnut on July 1, 1998. He enjoys his work as a minister with the Walnut Church of Christ.

Born in Monclova, Mex. Married with Dalia, their children are: Lessly, Jimmy Jr., Alex and Jared. 

 

Has a degree in Accounting and graduated from Monterrey School of Preaching in 1983, with experience as preacher and youth minister. 

 

He has worked as a youth minister and preacher in Monterrey, and Acuña, Méx., Del Rio, Tx., Clarksville, Tx., and currently serves as minister at Walnut Church of Christ in Texarkana, Tx.
